Airbus has officially delivered the first two of six H145M helicopters purchased by the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus. The remaining four units are expected to be delivered later this year, strengthening the country’s operational capabilities in the Mediterranean region.
Designed as a versatile military aircraft, the H145M can be used for transport missions, special operations, training, medical evacuation, and light attack roles. Its versatility was a decisive factor in the selection of the model, as highlighted by Olivier Michalon, Executive Vice President of Global Business Development at Airbus Helicopters.
“As hybrid warfare becomes increasingly present in modern conflicts, armed forces need helicopters capable of performing multiple missions. The H145M offers exactly that flexibility. Cyprus’s decision to integrate this platform enhances its responsiveness and aligns it with other European forces already operating this model,” said Michalon.
Versatile and well-armed platform
The H145M is equipped with the Airbus HForce weapon system, allowing it to be configured as a light attack helicopter, supporting machine guns, rockets, and missiles. It can also operate in a network with both manned and unmanned aircraft, offering full integration with modern combat systems.

Within minutes, the helicopter can be reconfigured for different types of missions — from tactical troop transport to special operations using fast-roping techniques. There are also options for cargo winches and external systems for material transport.
Cutting-edge technology
The H145M is powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines with a Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system and features Helionix avionics, including a four-axis autopilot. It also has a low noise signature, making it one of the quietest helicopters in its class — a key advantage for stealth missions.
With more than eight million flight hours logged by the H145 family in operations worldwide, the H145M reinforces Cyprus’s commitment to modernizing its armed forces and adopting proven defense solutions.
